Keep your eyes closed and just listen to the sound of his breathing; his body curled up against your back with his breath washing over the back of your neck. It moves your hair, and it tickles against the skin. ( Read more... )

The calls and the texts slowed to a trickle, and then went unanswered. The excuses that had been made - plans postponed and finally dropped due to lack of enthusiasm or reply. The doors that were locked and the lights that were off when she drove by late at night, back from work. All of the times when he was 'out taking care of business' with his new friends, that biker club that she'd heard so many bad things about. And the rumors swirling around the pool-hall that they used to go to, so many rumors about how he was being seen with one blonde on the back of his bike (and on his lap), and then two. And when some of these rumors came with pictures? There could be no more doubt.
But, worse than the knowledge of what he had done, what he'd probably done several times? Worse than all of that was the silence, total and complete, as if she'd been cut off and cast adrift in the ocean alone. Far from his voice, from his touch. Far from their love - it had been love, hadn't it? Real love? Of course it had, it wouldn't feel like her heart was breaking it if wasn't. And her heart was falling to pieces inside her chest.
And then came the day when she woke up and felt down the thread for him, and realized he was hundreds, maybe thousands of miles away. Best as she could tell, he was somewhere off the coast of Australia, and getting further by the hour.
And he had never even said goodbye.( Read more... )

"They're getting closer!" She whispered to the man at her side, the man whose hand she held tightly as they edged down the hall. "I don't understand what's going on. What's happening Kevin? It sounds like - animals - we need to get out of here!"
"Assassination attempt" Came his decisive response. "And we need to wait here for a second doc so I can hear what's going on. Let me think" His voice had none of the sounds of the panic that was rising inside of her, and for that Anika was grateful. He sounded in control of himself, so relaxed in spite of the situation and she tried hard to follow his lead. "I think we're alright for the moment, so just relax." ( Read more... )

"Where's this go?"
Anika looked up from where she was crouched in front of the open door, carefully placing the packages of spinach and tomatoes into the vegetable crisper. It was nice and cool down here, about the only true cool place in the small house - slash - beach shack she lived in. With the wiring not quite up to modern standards, yet; so it was up to the open windows and the screen netting to bring in the winds and cool down the over-warm living room.
"Um, pasta goes up on the second cupboard, top shelf." Turning her head away, Anika pulled the next recyclable bag close and pulled out the quart of local farm fresh milk (no growth hormones, no antibiotics) and set it in the old refrigerator door. Next came the cheese and the sliced turkey which went up into the meat drawer. Rolling her head on her neck, enjoying the cool air, Anika got ready to get up off her knees and begin putting away the frozen foods.
"Where's this go?"
With a shrug, the med student turned her head and nearly smacked her nose against a box that was right there. Right there and nearly in her face.
"It goes..." She focused on it and suddenly her words, all of them were gone. Just gone. The light blue box, the words in white were right before her eyes, held in an over-large fist.
"Ah, bath-no. Bedroom. Bedroom I guess. Here, I'll take that." Anika raised up her arm but before she could take hold, the box was whisked out of her reach. Oh god. Just - oh god. Her face was already getting warm. in spite of the cool air coming from the inside of the fridge. And suddenly it wasn't so important that she got everything put away, right in just the right spot. No, it was far more important that she got that box from him before -
""Thin-tensity What th' hell's that mean?"
Oh no. Too late.

Jul. 17th, 2010 12:38 pmI would love, absolutely love to rent this place on Maui. And even this place on Maui. But I don't have the money for something that elaborate. Not for a few years at least.
And after researching everything? I really think I would rather be on Kauai. It has less people, more nature. Less expensive too. Less cities, more towns and more space between them. And it has diving, waterfalls, hiking, kayaking, swimming and surfing of course; and even hula classes.
So this place it is!And it even has an extra bedroom in case Linette wants to fly out for a few days, or in case Mike or someone wants to visit.
Thing is, it's a little over my limit. So I'm going to have to ask someone for help or find someplace else. Neph helped with the tickets; maybe I can see if Logan has any friends that live on the Islands who have a place to crash for a couple weeks?

Jul. 17th, 2010 02:16 amDear Diary,
Finally found a place I think that I'll be comfortable with. It's more of a summer cottage, only one bedroom and the bathroom is small with a shower stall, but - but ooh, it's so pretty. It has a woodstove as well as gas heating so I can live there in the winter as well. It's secluded on three sides by all these trees and the forth side faces the ocean. And I can see it being filled with bright colors, big bright pillows, and sun catchers to create rainbows everywhere.
I was hoping for at least a two bedroom, but honestly? This is enough for me. Besides, I have oceanfront access, and big windows with lots of natural light so I really can't complain. It's at the end of this twisty, overgrown dirt road but all in all it's a good forty-five minutes closer to work than our house out in the woods is because I don't have to deal with near as much highway traffic. That has to count for something too. AND it's got this HUGE outdoor tub! Big enough for two almost. It used to have a garden but it's gotten so overgrown and wild that I don't know where to start to make it better. ( Read more... )

Larger sharks dominate smaller sharks, and residents dominate newcomers. When hunting, great whites tend to separate and resolve conflicts with rituals and displays.[23] White sharks rarely resort to combat although some individuals have been found with bite marks that match those of other white sharks. This suggests that when another shark approaches too closely, great whites react with a warning bite. Another possibility is that white sharks bite to show dominance.( Read more... )

I'm both orderly and rational. I value control, information, and order. I love structure and hierarchy, and will actively use whatever power or knowledge I have to maintain it. At best, I am lawful and insightful; at worst, I am bureaucratic and tyrannical.
