Dear Diary,
Finally found a place I think that I'll be comfortable with. It's more of a summer cottage, only one bedroom and the bathroom is small with a shower stall, but - but ooh, it's so pretty. It has a woodstove as well as gas heating so I can live there in the winter as well. It's secluded on three sides by all these trees and the forth side faces the ocean. And I can see it being filled with bright colors, big bright pillows, and sun catchers to create rainbows everywhere.
I was hoping for at least a two bedroom, but honestly? This is enough for me. Besides, I have oceanfront access, and big windows with lots of natural light so I really can't complain. It's at the end of this twisty, overgrown dirt road but all in all it's a good forty-five minutes closer to work than our house out in the woods is because I don't have to deal with near as much highway traffic. That has to count for something too. AND it's got this HUGE outdoor tub! Big enough for two almost. It used to have a garden but it's gotten so overgrown and wild that I don't know where to start to make it better.
I'm getting it kind of cheap, but the owners just want someone to live there, and I know my references will work out (must remind Selene and Ashley that someone will be calling them). It'll be my place during the week, and I'll get to go home to Logan, Neph and Anya on the weekends. At least until I start back at school. Because then, this place will be great just to relax and unwind after work so that I can study. And I can always get an inflatable bed to put in the living room in case family or even Madison and Bailey come to visit.
Or Mike of course.
Oh, but let me tell you about it! The deck goes from the bedroom to the living room and looks out over the water. The living room is connected to the kitchen.
So basically it's a three room studio-type of deal? Maybe? You park your car on the other side of the gate (or I park my bike on the inside of the gate) and then walk up the path and in the door to the kitchen. The first door on the left is the bathroom. Walk further in and you get the living room and the next door on the left is my bedroom. Out the back door is the porch that runs the length of back of the house and the small stairway that takes you down to the water - when the tide is in. I have a small beach when the tide goes out.
So yes, it's small. And it needs work. But it's worth it for the windows that let me see the water and these fantastic sunsets. I'm going to bring Logan on a walk-through of the place, and show him, ask him about it. Oooh, and I need to show Ashley too! And then I'm going to tell the girls about it during our vacation and start moving in when I get home.
And I'll let Mike know the good news when I get back.

Date: 2010-07-17 12:05 pm (UTC)And I was really hoping you would actually! I know it looks beaten up, some places more than others. And I was really hoping to have you check it out with me, before I sign the lease. I was going to ask you this week, actually. It's for a whole year, and I don't want to commit without having someone that I know and trust to go through it, and the area around it first. That means you.
I can pick up the keys during my lunch today. If you want to meet me in the city, I can show you how to get there? I know it's little Logan, but it has promise, it really does!

Date: 2010-07-18 01:39 am (UTC)I can give you a list of stuff to watch out for. I've lived in enough shitholes, I know most of the warning signs!

Date: 2010-07-18 11:41 am (UTC)*nods* True, but - I don't have a TV, and all I have is this old MP3 player with one broken earpiece. Bra's? Bra's I've got. I can do bra's, but I was actually thinking of getting some rope and tying off a couple of trees to hang laundry off.
And I have to come home on weekends - I don't have a washer either. And I have no idea where I'm going to get furniture, or... no clue.
Think you could help me with that too?
*and of course the furniture will look like what is in the pictures! *wink*
